Description

A beautiful East-German vintage archtop named 'Alva' built in the lutherie of Rodebald Hoyer in 1962, in Bavaria. Anyone who knows anything about East-German archtops knows that Hoyer, as well as his father, were true craftsmen in the guitar-making trade. This guitar is no exception to the quality they used to deliver before Rodebald Hoyer died in 1964 at only 53 years old and his Lutherie was closed down in 1966. This is a real beauty to look at, and the sounds deep and warm with an uncompromising jazz tone—due to the Shadow AZ-48 pickup, also known as the 'Antilla Zoller', that was installed with a matching pickguard by a luthier specialised in vintage jazz guitars only a year or two ago. The tuners were also replaced by quality vintage-style mechanics that look incredibly similar and stay in tune a lot better than the worn-down originals. I wouldn't recommend using this guitar acoustically, even though you can, the magic happens when it's amplified.

The guitar can be collected in the center of Antwerp and you're welcome come and try it out but there are videos in which I play it, so feel free to ask about them. I'm also happy to demo it during a video call, but only for serious buyers. Don't hesitate to ask questions if you're interested in this East-German jazz pearl. Gigbag included!
