The sound quality of the studio microphone PM 860 are in accordancewith the standard of studio quality. A well-balanced frequency responsein the free field as well as in the diffuse field and the distinct cardioidcharacteristic make possible a life-like recording of any sound sourceswith a good selectivity. The influence of interference sources such as inherent noise, windnoise and solid-borne sound is reduced by suitable precautions. Microphone capsule and microphone amplifier are a unit adjusted tooptimum transmission properties. The circuitry includes a FET input stage, an integrated circuit, adc/dc converter circuit for the generation of the polarisation voltageand the output transformer. Two switches permit respectively 10 dBpreattenuation for the handling of very high sound pressure levelsand a reduction of the sensitivity factor for low frequencies. The latterprovides compensation for the proximity effect. The two switches are tobe found at the lower end of the microphone body. The high backwardattenuation permits an optimum sound reinforcement. The direction of maximum sensitivity is axial, i.e. endwise to the microphone.The microphone is specially designed as a Vocal Performance Microphone with a good handling. The PM 860 is equipped with a 3-pin XLR connector for a C 70 microphonecable. The power supply is provided by 48 V phantom powering,which is internationally standardized as P 48 in DIN 45596 andIEC 268-15. The microphone is available in matt black and white.
