Description
I WILL BE HOME SOON
The prints appear that the print is done on a smooth surface, likely a heavyweight designed for other purposes and I found new uses for the paper from the local market in Uganda.
The papers used are tested to hold ink evenly.
The paper helps to preserve the work's longevity. Would you like a deeper exploration into the specific properties of the paper.
I use a three (3) millimeter MDF soft board and with the use of Lino cutters.
This wood cut print shows three women carrying things on thee heads looking towards a distant taxi as they send an message home, hopeful that the journey ahead leads to a joyful return as they head home.
BIO : " I am a semi-abstract artist employing traditional printmaking techniques as a vehicle to convey the excruciatingly rigorous processes that mirror the day to day life of average Ugandans who struggle to make ends meet. Drawing inspiration from the raw emotions of human experience, my work displays excellent craftsmanship of the Lino Block printing with intricate use of figurative illustrations that weave into a varied range of patterns that inform the day sceneries of average Ugandans.
I seek to deliver tough message with subtle Colours and details to serve as a conduit which should heal societal disparities through accessible art. My art offers audiences an opportunity to heal through an
exploration of the familiar places, contexts and experiences like; homes, markets and urban centres to reinvent the true essence of a community.
My work is an open proposal to reinvent memories of our past struggles as an emotional vehicle to success. Icarefully plan, sketch and carve each piece methodically by layering colors from light to dark to offer viewers a deep dive through the complexity of my compositions. Motivated by passion for capturing the silent struggle of society, my art serves as a window into the unspoken truths of the daily lives of average Ugandans.
